For the last 25 years has been involved in the field of HIV medicine at various levels.


These include:


President of the Southern African HIV Clinicians Society from 1998 to 2008.

Editor of the Southern African Journal of HIV Medicine.

Consultant to various HIV management programmes both in the private and NGO sectors including the programmes of AngloAmerican, Goldfields, Discovery Health and various PEPFAR programmes.

A consultant virologist in the private sector at TogaLabs.

Professor in the Department of Clinical Virology, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pretoria.


Dr Suleiman Hajee

BSc (Microbiology), MB ChB, FCPath (Microbiology)


Dr S Hajee is a Consultant Microbiologist with a strong Microbiology background, having obtained a BSc with Microbiology as a major prior to commencing his medical studies. After qualifying as a doctor at Natal University (Nelson Mandela School of Medicine), he specialized as a Pathologist in Microbiology at the SAIMR (now the NHLS)and the Wits Medical School. After qualifying, he continued to work at SAIMR/NHLS and Wits for more than 10 years. During this time he was appointed as  Pathologist in charge of first the Hillbrow Hospital Laboratory, and then later the Helen Joseph Laboratory/Coronation laboratory complex. For the past ten years, he has been working as an Independent Consultant in the private pathology industry. He joined Toga Laboratory about one and a half years ago
